We are currently hiring for the position of a Full Time Veterinary Customer Service Representative (CSR). The Veterinary CSR here requires advanced computer knowledge and the ability to learn practice software (Cornerstone) quickly. The CSR is the first person our clients see and they must possess a warm and outgoing personality. Excellent customer service skills and multitasking abilities are essential. The CSR should have excellent communication skills and follow through, be open to constructive criticism and extremely detail oriented. It is necessary that candidates for this position have the ability to follow direction with and without supervision. Candidates are expected to dress and act professionally and complete all tasks as designated by staff. All CSR at Suffolk Animal Hospital are cross-trained as Veterinary Assistants and are expected to fill the role of an Assistant on an as needed basis. Therefore, you should be comfortable handling both cats, dogs, and birds and be able to lift 40 pounds or more. You must thrive in a collaborative environment and be a quick thinker with a passion for animal health care.

While some animal care experience is preferred, a minimum of one year of customer service experience is required. The hours for this position vary but are primarily Monday through Friday 7:45am to 5pm but will include every other Saturday 7:45am to 12pm. Suffolk Animal Hospital encourages employment development through continuing education and offer flexible scheduling. We are currently seeking a new Practice Manager as well. The purpose of this position is to supervise and oversee the business activities of the hospital. These duties include hiring and training hospital staff; working with the hospital administrator to prepare budgets; monitoring key performance indicators and setting fees; maintaining inventory and an inventory control system; managing the hospital software; and implementing safety and security procedures.

The Practice Manager must create and maintain a positive culture and work environment. This person is creative yet able to develop and implement practical programs. The Practice Manager exercises sound judgment and the willingness and capability to make decisions.

The Practice Manager is responsible for all accounting and financial control functions, including financial planning, budgeting, control and reporting systems, and financial analyses. The Practice Manager ensures the hospital’s management team has adequate visibility into operations so that the team members know how the hospital is performing, performance goals, and how they contribute to achieving the goals.

The successful Practice Manager changes focus and roles quickly in order to effectively interact with a variety of people, both inside the hospital and in the community. The Manager has a high degree of business acumen and is attuned to the variables that affect the hospital’s financial performance. In addition, the Practice Manager is highly motivated to contribute substantively to the hospital’s success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Preferred: three years or more of experience managing a veterinary practice, Certified Veterinary Practice Manager Designation.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste, and contagious diseases.
