Our Veterinarians

Dr. Amber Carr

Dr. Amber Carr

Veterinarian/Owner

Dr. Amber Carr has worked as a veterinarian in two other Suffolk veterinary clinics. She has lived in Suffolk for nearly 15 years. Dr. Carr currently lives with a plethora of fur children. A supporter of pet adoption, she currently has a retired racing Greyhound. Dr. Carr also has two adopted cats (if anyone truly can own a cat). She loves kayaking, biking, camping, and baking in her free time. Dr. Carr is a graduate of Ross University in St. Kitts and finished her clinical studies at North Carolina State University. Before that, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in bioresource sciences from the University of California, Berkeley.

Dr. Carr has a strong interest in dermatology cases and chronic ear infections. She enjoys staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the veterinary field to ensure your pet receives only the best medicine. Dr. Carr loves to see cases (including rescue and shelter animals) that start out ravaged with an infection such as “mange” and to watch their transition from a sickly, sad, deserted animal into a healthy, happy family pet. Dr. Carr also has a soft spot in her heart for sighthounds of all types, especially of the Greyhound variety. There are special needs and concerns for their breed, and she loves the challenge.

Dr. Christine Miller

Dr. Christine Miller

Veterinarian

Originally born in Maine, Dr. Miller has recently relocated to Suffolk from Miami, Florida. She completed her collegiate education at Cornell University, New York College of Veterinary Medicine. At home, you can find her with her three Miami rescue kitties named Ashley, Madison, and Sabino.
Dr. Miller did some extra training in pathology following vet school graduation, including one year at the University of Melbourne in Australia. She then completed an internship in small animal and exotic medicine and surgery at Colorado State University. Following this, Dr. Miller had a 25-year career as a zoo veterinarian at the Indianapolis Zoo and Miami Zoo, where she was in charge of the medical care of everything from poison–dart frogs to African elephants. For the past few years, she has worked in various private practices in South Florida, mostly with cats and dogs.
In practice, she loves interacting with clients and their pets. Dr. Miller focuses on helping to strengthen the bond between cats/dogs and their humans. When not working in the clinic, she enjoys traveling, especially to natural areas for wildlife and bird watching. She also enjoys spending “enrichment” time with her cats at home.

Dr. Rebecca Marr

Our Support Staff

Mrs. Alison Coffey

Mrs. Alison Coffey

Office Manager

Ali joined our team as an intern to complete her Veterinary Assistant Certification Program, but she did so well that she was offered a permanent position upon her graduation. She has become a fixture in our clinic as a full-time assistant and our trainer to new employees. Ali shares her home with an Old English Bulldog named Monkey, two cats (Kitts and Wilson), her son, and her husband. She has never met a puppy or kitty she didn’t like!
You may start to notice a little bit less of Ali in the examination rooms these days, as she has transitioned into our office manager. Having been with us a number of years and helping to train staff, Ali decided to get a bit more involved with the “behind the scenes” operations. Don’t worry – she’ll never be too far from a cute pet!
Ali always tries to pet every dog and cat that walks through the door. All pets are “puppies and kitties” to her. In addition to loving all things that bark and purr, she continuously shares her knowledge with all the new employees of our hospital, helping to raise not only knowledgeable staff members but also staff members that are just as compassionate and loving towards pets as she is.

She shares her love of theater with her teenager and can often be found at the soccer field with her boys.
Caren enjoys spending her time in exam rooms sharing her knowledge with clients whenever possible. She also loves the unusual cases that walk through the front door. Whether it’s a bot fly infestation or toxin ingestion, Caren’s on it!

Tracy

Tracy

Animal Care Assistant

Hi I’m Tracy and I have been in the veterinary field for almost 13 years. I realized I loved working with animals while living in Guam and working hands on with the strays. I love spending time one on one with boarders and my passion is working with special needs pups since I have 4 of my own. I go above and beyond to make sure everyone is comfortable and enjoying their stay. I love helping with the spicy pups and always willing to do what it takes to make sure they have a smooth exam or stay. My favorite breed are pit bulls.
Mr. Angel

Mr. Angel

Clinic Greeter

Angel is truly the antithesis of his name as he is a feisty feathered friend. He has taken up residence at Suffolk Animal Hospital and is earning his keep as a greeter. Angel enjoys long walks to the end of his perch and throwing lots of seed on the ground. Angel spends his time shredding newspaper and singing us sweet nothings. Don’t let his quiet chirps fool you. He can belt it out when he really wants to.

Mr. Bettis

Mr. Bettis

Security Detail

Bettis comes to us after years of patrolling the racetrack grounds in Florida. He has decided to take it easy in his retirement years and now works as our security detail. He can generally be found on his post, guarding our large kennels. While he thoroughly enjoys his day job, he is acutely aware of when 5 PM arrives and actively informs the rest of the staff.
